Mountain Movers Creative Arts is Salem's faith-based, non-competitive dance studio — built on kindness and belonging, where every child is celebrated for their own growth and welcomed in like family.

More than dance — we teach the whole child

Mountain Movers Creative Arts is a faith-based, non-competitive dance studio in Salem, VA, where dancers ages 18 months and up build confidence, creativity and character through ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and acro. Led by Ms. Angie and Ms. Lacie, Mountain Movers leads with kindness and belonging — we don't just teach dance, we help shape strong, kind, capable kids for life.

Families across the Roanoke Valley describe the studio as “more like a family than a dance studio” the moment they walk in. Whether your child is taking their very first class or has been dancing for years, they're met exactly where they are and celebrated for their own growth — never ranked or pressured.

Our branded Movers programs — Magic, Creative, Mini, Mighty, Dynamic and Fearless — welcome every age and stage. And through our nonprofit Darby's Dancers program, children with special needs experience the joy of dance too. We instill more than dance skills: confidence, kindness, body positivity and life skills that carry far beyond the studio.

Mountain Movers Creative Arts is led by Ms. Angie and Ms. Lacie — the teachers families praise again and again for caring about the whole child, not just the dancer.

Ms. Angie built Mountain Movers around a simple belief: dance should build confident, kind, capable kids in a faith-based, non-competitive, genuinely welcoming environment where every child belongs.

That belief shows in everything from the warmth families feel the moment they walk in to the nonprofit Darby's Dancers program, which brings the joy of dance to children with special needs.
