Getting Started
What age can my child start dance?
As young as 18 months, in our caregiver & me Magic Movers classes. From there, our age-based “Movers” programs welcome dancers all the way through adult.
Do you offer a free trial class?
Yes — schedule a free trial so your child can experience Mountain Movers before enrolling. It's the best way to feel our welcoming, faith-based environment for yourself.
Does my child need any experience to start?
Not at all. Every child is met exactly where they are and brought along with patience and encouragement — first-timers are always welcome.
How do I register and enroll?
You can register online any time, or call us at 540-750-0098 and we'll help you find the right class for your dancer's age and stage.
What should my child wear to class?
Comfortable dancewear they can move in, with hair secured back. Shoe needs vary by class — see our Dress Code page for the details by program.
Programs & Classes
Which dance styles do you teach?
Ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and acro — taught in a faith-based, non-competitive, encouraging environment that builds confidence, creativity and character.
What are your “Movers” age programs?
Our six branded age programs are Magic Movers (18–30 months), Creative Movers (2.5–3), Mini Movers (4–5), Mighty Movers (6–9), Dynamic Movers (10+) and Fearless Movers (adults).
What is Darby's Dancers?
Darby's Dancers is our nonprofit inclusive program that brings the joy of dance to children with special needs — pairing each dancer with a buddy in a supportive, celebratory class.
Do you have a competition team?
No — Mountain Movers is intentionally non-competitive. We focus on each child's own growth, confidence and love of dance rather than trophies or rankings.
Do you offer classes for boys, adults or private lessons?
Yes to all three. We offer an All Boys class, adult Fearless Movers classes for every level, and private lessons for dancers who want focused one-on-one time.
Logistics & Our Studio
What does “faith-based and non-competitive” mean?
It means a pressure-free studio rooted in kindness and encouragement, where every child is celebrated for who they are and supported to grow at their own pace — we teach the whole child, not just the dancer.
Where are you located, and which areas do you serve?
Mountain Movers Creative Arts is in Salem, VA, and welcomes families from across the Roanoke Valley — including Salem, Roanoke, Cave Spring, Hollins, Vinton and Roanoke County.
Can parents watch class?
Yes — we love sharing our dancers' progress with families. Ask the front desk about viewing windows and our family watch days.
How much does tuition cost?
We keep pricing personal rather than on the website, so we can recommend the right plan for your family. Reach out and we'll walk you through tuition and registration.
What is your make-up and cancellation policy?
We do our best to accommodate make-up classes when a dancer misses a session — just let us know. Full enrollment and withdrawal policies are shared at registration.
